Hopewell’s Volunteers Participate Coastal Cleanup Challenge

16 Nov 2013

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) and Hong Kong Cleanup jointly organized the Coastal Cleanup Challenge at Angler’s Bay in Tsuen Wan on 16 November 2013 for the first time. The volunteer team consisted of 140 volunteers from different organizations, including 110 HH Social Club members and 30 students and teachers from Hong Kong Tang King Po College joined hands to clean up the trash.

Around 100 kilograms and nearly 2,400 pieces of trash in total were collected in the event, including foam, plastics, metal wastes, cigarettes and ink boxes, etc. The cleanup data collected during the event were recorded.

Through co-organizing this coastal cleanup campaign, Hopewell hopes to raise the volunteers’ awareness of coastal environment protection and the importance of reducing waste. The Group also supports environmental education for school students by inviting its community partner, Hong Kong Tang King Po College, to participate in the event. The data collected is analyzed and consolidated by Hong Kong Cleanup and used to identify the sources of trash and to develop long-term solutions.
