The "2012 Hopewell Bowling Charity League"Together with the Business Community Made Contributions to the "Strike" Bowling Programme

26 Oct 2012

The 2012 Hopewell Bowling Charity League, co-organised by the Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”), Kowloon Bay International Trade and Exhibition Centre (“KITEC”) and Hong Kong Bowling City, was held earlier at the Hong Kong Bowling City in KITEC. A total of HKD142,000 has been contributed to the “Strike” Bowling Programme (“Strike”) of St. James’ Settlement to nurture the sports potential of intellectual disabled youths.

The annual Hopewell bowling competition aims to encourage staff members of local companies and organisations to actively participate in the bowling sports and to promote work-life balance. It also aims at seeking support from the business community for a charitable cause and allows the sustainable development of “Strike”.

A total of 32 teams from renowned companies and organisations joined the League to compete for the Team and Singles Events awards. A celebrity team formed by artists Steven @ Boyz, Rannes, YT and Benedict, as well as two “Strike” Bowling Teams were on the alleys together during the competition. This truly reflects the integration of the disabled persons and the able-bodied. Artist Hanjin Tan and representatives from Hong Kong Bowling Team namely Michael Mak, Leo Tse and Achilles Hung also demonstrated at the League.

Hopewell in collaboration with its community partner St. James’ Settlement, kicked off the “Strike”, the Hong Kong-First Bowling Training Program for intellectually disabled youths last summer, with the ultimate goal of training athletes to participate in the 37th Hong Kong Special Olympics in 2013.
