Hopewell Junior Volunteers Programme Organized a Journey to Food Saving for Primary School Students

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) supported the Grant-in-aid Brightens Children’s Lives Service of St. James' Settlement and co-organized activities for students. The first activity of Hopewell Junior Volunteers Programme invited around 30 students from Buddhist Chi King Primary School and children of Hopewell's staff to join A Journey to Food Saving on Saturday, 7th May 2016. On that day, the volunteers of Food Grace leaded the students for a special journey to the wet market and participated in the food-recycling process in order to learn more about food waste problems and the ways to tackle them. In addition, we also arranged green workshop and green lunch to promote healthy lifestyles among them.

Hopewell Continued to Support WWF Earth Hour

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) continued to support WWF Earth Hour in Hong Kong by switching off exterior decorative lights of six major properties of the Group, including Hopewell Centre, QRE Plaza, GARDENEast, E-Max, Panda Hotel and Panda Place for an hour, from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on 19th March 2016. In addition, Hopewell Highway Infrastructure Company Limited’s joint venture companies, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Zhuhai Superhighway Company Limited and Guangdong Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Superhighway Company Limited also switched off the lights at the staff dormitory buildings in Guangdong province during the Earth Hour.
 
In celebration of the tenth time Earth Hour has been held, over 4,100 companies and buildings in Hong Kong committed to taking part in Earth Hour, and over 230 primary and secondary schools and Hong Kong landmarks supported the lights-out event.

Hopewell Supported Hong Kong Tree Planting Day 2016

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) supported the Hong Kong Tree Planting Day 2016 held on Saturday, 19 March 2016 at Tai Tong, Yuen Long. This event organized by the Hong Kong Tree Planting Day Organizing Committee is the largest annual tree planting event in Hong Kong. It aims to promote green Hong Kong and raise public awareness on environmental protection, hill fire prevention and tree preservation.
 
36 HH Social Club volunteers comprising Hopewell staff, their families and friends, joined together with over 1,700 volunteers from various government departments, organizations and companies to take part in planting tree seedlings, planted around 8,000 tree seedlings of various species at the assigned tree planting area in Tai Tong to build a greener environment.

Hopewell Received Gold in “Save Energy Mission” and Bronze in “Save Resources Mission” from Friends of the Earth (HK)

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) supported Earth Partner organized by Friends of the Earth (HK) again. By participating two of the Green Missions, we received Gold in the “Save Energy Mission” and Bronze in the “Save Resources Mission” in recognition of our supports and efforts in environmental protection. The programme encourages everyone to use resources efficiently, reduce, reuse and recycle waste and minimize the impacts to the planet.
 
The grading was based on the data provided by the Group including the volume of reducing usage and increasing in recycling of the second half of 2014 and 2015. According to the criteria on grading, 6% or above in the volume of reducing usage and increasing in recycling was judged as third level, Gold, while 2% to 3.9% in the percentage reduced in electricity consumption was judged as first level, Bronze.

Hopewell Centre and Wu Chung House Received Bronze Awards from “Yan Oi Tong Plastic Recycling Partnership Scheme 2015-2016”

Hopewell Centre and Wu Chung House of Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) continued to support Yan Oi Tong Plastic Recycling Partnership Scheme organized by Yan Oi Tong EcoPark Plastic Resources Recycling Centre.
 
During the period, Hopewell Centre and Wu Chung House collected over 1,100 kg of plastic waste respectively and both received Bronze awards in Housing Estate and C&I Building category as recognition of their outstanding environmental performance on plastic recycling programme.
 
“Yan Oi Tong Plastic Recycling Partnership Scheme” aims to encourage community and social enterprise to promote the plastic recycling programme, thus enhancing the environmental awareness of the public and organizations.
