Hopewell Supports Skip Lunch Day

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) supported “Skip Lunch Day” organized by the Community Chest to encourage the employees to donate their lunch fees to support the needy. The programme of this year is to benefit the "Services for Street Sleepers, Residents in Cage Homes and Cubicles" supported by the Community Chest.

Hopewell and St. James' Settlement Collaborate to Help Intellectually Disabled Youths Realise their Sporting Dreams

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) and St. James’ Settlement (“SJS”) are pleased to announce that their jointly organised “Strike” Bowling Programme (“Strike”) successfully trained 8 intellectually disabled young athletes to take part in the 37th Hong Kong Special Olympics Bowling Competition on 14 March 2013. The elite bowlers from the “Strike” team won 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals, with over half of the team winning awards in the competition.

Hopewell cares about youth development, and has been organising and sponsoring various community programmes to help young people explore and unleash their potentials. Hopewell, in collaboration with its community partner, SJS, launched the “Strike” in 2011, the Hong Kong’s first bowling training programme targeted at intellectually disabled youths, with the ultimate goal of training athletes to participate in the 37th Hong Kong Special Olympics.

The “Strike” Programme has invited Ms. Vanessa Fung, former representative of Hong Kong Bowling Team, as the coach while Hopewell Social Club volunteers helped out as training partners. All in all, the three bowling training programmes altogether benefited more than 30 intellectually disabled youths.

Hopewell’s Corporate Volunteer Team in New Year Visits Single Elderly

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) is committed to contributing towards a caring community. In particular, Hopewell strongly encourages its staff in volunteering with our NGO partners. In February, Hopewell’s corporate volunteer team joined the “Wan Chai Care for the Elderly Project 2013” in bringing gifts and warm New Year greetings to single elderly people, some of them in their 80s.

Hopewell’s voluntary members found the experience very rewarding, as in return for their gifts and wishes of good health they received sincere thanks and cheerful responses from the elderly. Throughout the visits, members learned about different walks of society and how to communicate better with older people.

The Project was organised by Wan Chai Methodist Centre for the Seniors, Wanchai District Elderly Community Centre of St. James’ Settlement, Eastern and Wan Chai District Social Welfare Office of Social Welfare Department and the Community Building Committee of Wan Chai District Council.

Hopewell Supports Walk for Millions 2013

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) believes that contributing to the communities in which it operates is important. As a long term supporter of the Community Chest, Hopewell and its staff once again took part in the annual ‘Hong Kong & Kowloon Walk for Millions’, organised by The Community Chest of Hong Kong on 6th January 2013, to give help to the needy. In addition to the company’s donation, Hopewell also matched the staff donations dollar-for-dollar.

Over 150 employees and their families participated in the 10km walk, wearing smart HH Social Club red jackets as they enthusiastically set off from Hong Kong Stadium. The funds raised are used to help support family and children welfare services.

To express thanks for the participating staff members and their families, Panda Hotel, a subsidiary of Hopewell, prepared a barbecue party for Hopewell team members at the destination at Aberdeen Country Park.

Hopewell will continue supporting the Community Chest and various community programmes to help build a more caring community.

Hopewell Sponsors “Happy Family Poon Choi Feast” Gift Packs for the Elderly

Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) supports various community events and charitable programmes in echo with its commitment to contribute to the community and promote social harmony. For this reason, in December, Hopewell delivered 2000 sets of HH Social Club gift packs as Christmas presents for the senior citizens who attended the Wan Chai district “Happy Family Poon Choi Feast”.

The event was co-organised by the Community Building Committee of Wan Chai District Council, St. James’ Settlement and Wan Chai Methodist Centre for the Seniors to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR.? The participants were happy to receive the gift packs prepared by HH Social Club. The gift packs contained useful skincare items for winter weather, such as hand cream and lip balm.
