| HH Social Club Tuen Ng Volunteer Programme – Exploring Life Journeys Together with the Elderly, Sharing a Green Festival | | | 10 May 2025
Hopewell Holdings Limited ("Hopewell") partnered with St. James' Settlement for the fifteenth consecutive year to organize the HH Social Club Tuen Ng Volunteer Programme, delivering care and festive blessings to more than a thousand elderly living alone. To date, the program has benefited over 14,000 seniors.
This year, the event once again incorporated elements of life-and-death education. On May 10, 2025, the program offered elderly participants a life exploration journey – "HH Social Club: Sharing a Green Tuen Ng Festival". A total of 21 volunteers and nearly 30 seniors visited T·Park, where they experienced green living and learned about the concept of "Green living in life, green burial after life", exploring the wisdom of sustainable environmental practices.
Following this, volunteers and seniors visited the Columbarium at Tsang Tsui, Tuen Mun, and joined a guided tour on life-and-death education led by Mr. Kwong Yu-sze, founder of Black White Grey Blue. The tour introduced the latest eco-friendly funeral facilities, helping seniors plan their final arrangements with peace of mind.
The day concluded with a buffet lunch at Hopewell's Panda Hotel, where volunteers also presented the elderly with festive rice dumplings and gift packs, bringing them warmth and joy during the Tuen Ng Festival.

These interactive exchanges helped cultivate diverse thinking and innovation skills, while also enhancing problem-solving abilities and adaptability for future development. |
| Hopewell Holdings and St. James’ Settlement Co-organize “Hopewell Junior Volunteers Program” for the Ninth Consecutive Year | | | 29 Mar 2025
For the ninth consecutive year, Hopewell Holdings Limited ("Hopewell") has partnered with St. James' Settlement to co-organize the "Hopewell Junior Volunteers Program.” This year, the initiative continued to focus on the mental health of primary school students by hosting five horticultural therapy workshops and a farming experience day, designed to support the psychological well-being of primary school students.
Using plants as a therapeutic medium, professional horticultural therapists guided participants through activities such as planting and handicrafts. These sessions helped students relieve stress, improve emotional regulation, and address mental, cognitive, and social challenges, delivering positive therapeutic effects.
The activities were held on March 29 and April 12 at the farms in New Territories, with partner schools including Fr. Cucchiara Memorial School and Po Leung Kuk Chan Yat Primary School. Through horticultural therapy workshops and interactive engagement with volunteers, students were able to relax and enhance their emotional resilience.
Activity One
- Understanding the relationship between plants and people
- Plant dyeing
- Farming experience and planting beans
Activity Two
- Farm tour and concepts of sustainable cultivation
- Natural plant dyeing and herbal sachet making
- Experience of no-dig planting
St. James' Settlement also distributed mental health questionnaires to students to assess the effectiveness of the workshops in improving psychological well-being. The program aims to identify high-risk students at an early stage, enabling school social workers to provide follow-up counseling or refer them to professional organizations for appropriate treatment. |
