| Hopewell Joined Hands with St. James’ Settlement to Support Students’ Diversified Development for Three Consecutive Years | | | 23 Jun 2018
For the third consecutive year, Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) jointly organized “Hopewell Junior Volunteers Programme” with St. James’ Settlement (“SJS”). The programme provided Primary 3 to 6 students, HH Social Club volunteers and their children with a series of activities related to environmental protection, community engagement, sports, arts and culture, with the purpose of fostering friendships and positively influencing students’ growth. This year, activities organized include Horse-Riding Day, Golf Experiential Day and Table Manner Workshop cum Graduation.
Around 90 volunteers, students and their parents attended Table Manner Workshop cum Graduation Ceremony on 23 June 2018 which was co-organized by Hopewell and its subsidiary, Panda Hotel, as the venue sponsor. The Table Manner Workshop on elementary table manners was conducted by Hopewell’s hospitality trainees and participants also enjoyed western set lunch at the hotel. A graduation ceremony was held after the workshop, at which representatives from Hopewell and SJS presented certificates and wooden name badges to the graduates in recognition of their participation in a series of extra-curricular activities.
Other than the above extra-curricular activities, students also participated in eight lessons of Fabric Collage Workshop to learn basic technique such as sewing and collage, and designed their own unique upcycling artwork with the collected fabric including photo frame, animal clock, tote bag and 3D bird table lamp. Selected artworks were exhibited at Panda Place from 22 to 24 June to showcase the students' creativity and effort. |
| Hopewell and St. James’ Settlement Brought Seasonal Blessing to Singleton Elderly at Tuen Ng Festival | | | 16 Jun 2018
Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) and St. James’ Settlement (“SJS”) jointly organized the Tuen Ng Volunteer Visit for the eighth consecutive year, serving nearly 7,000 singleton elderly since its launch.
On 16 June 2018, around 70 HH Social Club volunteers, their families and friends participated in the Tuen Ng Volunteer Visit to Elderly. The volunteers gathered at the headquarters of SJS in the morning to prepare gift sets and attended the briefing conducted by the representative from SJS to learn the information of Hong Kong social services and benefits for the elderly and essential skills to communicate with singleton elderly. Then, they brought along the gift sets to visit around 90 households of singleton elderly residing in various districts of Hong Kong (Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan and Tsing Yi). |
| Hopewell and St. James’ Settlement Jointly Organized Tuen Ng Movie Day | | | 09 Jun 2018
Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) collaborated with St. James’ Settlement in co-organizing the Tuen Ng Volunteer Visit. A new volunteer activity, Tuen Ng Movie Day was hosted this year, aiming to enrich our signature annual volunteer programme.
On Saturday, 9 June 2018, around 30 HH Social Club volunteers and 90 singleton elderly participated in the Tuen Ng Movie Day hosted at The Metroplex, a cinema under Hopewell. The volunteers divided into groups to take care of the elderly. We distributed popcorn to the elderly in order to offer them an enjoyable experience of watching movie at the cinema. After watching movie, the volunteers and elderly enjoyed traditional “dim sum” lunch together to celebrate the Tuen Ng Festival. The event provided them with an opportunity to meet friends and expand their social horizons. |
| Hopewell Awarded “Outstanding Walk Team Award” by the 2017/2018 Walks for Million | | | 29 May 2018
Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) received "Outstanding Walk Team Award" and Certificate of Appreciation of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Walk at the 2017/2018 Walks for Millions Cheque and Award Presentation Ceremony to acknowledge the participation of 94 employees, their friends and relatives. The donation will support the services of 24 social welfare agencies in providing "Family and Child Welfare Services". |
| Hopewell and ELCSS-HK Co-organized Cake Bakery Workshop for the Youth | | | 12 May 2018
Hopewell Holdings Limited (“Hopewell”) and Tuen Mun Intergrated Youth Service Centre of Evangelical Lutheran Church Social Service – Hong Kong (ELCSS-HK) co-organized cake bakery workshop on 12 May 2018 (Sat), one day before Mother's Day, by arranging HH Social Club volunteers and youngsters to visit social enterprise, Caritas La Vie Bakery, to make Mother’s Day cakes.
On the event day, our volunteers and youngsters got to know each other through playing games. It also provided opportunity for youngsters to know the functions of various business units in a corporation which helped them to build up the concept of career planning. The process of cake making required participants to be focus, attentive to detail and creative. Under the instruction of the chef, our volunteers and youngsters worked together to make cakes in unique style and took away to celebrate Mother’s Day with their family members. |
