Sixteen Years of Continuous Care: The “HH Social Club Tuen Ng Visit” Brighten Elders’ Lives

30 May 2026

Organized by Hopewell Holdings Limited in partnership with St. James' Settlement, the “HH Social Club Tuen Ng Visit” was successfully held on May 30. Spanning 16 consecutive years, this warm initiative has benefited over 15,000 elderly individuals living alone, continuously injecting intergenerational harmony and caring strength into the community.

Intergenerational Volunteers Unite to Visit Over 60 Elderly Households
This year’s loving lineup was stronger than ever. Gathering at St. James' Settlement headquarters, 23 “HH Social Club" volunteers and their family members were joined for the first time by 22 volunteers from the Hopewell Hotel team, alongside 10 students from the Vocational Training Council and 14 students from Lingnan University (including recipients of the Huadu Student Scholarship at Lingnan University).

Before setting off, volunteers packed gift bags containing custom Tuen Ng Festival rice dumplings from Hopewell Hotel and attended an orientation on communication skills with seniors. They then divided into teams across Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Tin Hau, North Point, and Tsuen Wan, visiting over 60 households of elderly citizens living alone to deliver festive blessings.

Mrs. Ivy Wu Kwok, Director of Hopewell Holdings Limited, said, “The HH Social Club Tuen Ng Volunteers Programme’ has spanned sixteen years, growing alongside the community. Hopewell has always been committed to corporate social responsibility, encouraging employees and young people to join hands in volunteer service. Watching students and colleagues pay home visits together, offering care and blessings, deeply moved me with the strength of intergenerational harmony. This goodwill extends beyond the Tuen Ng Festival, it is a lasting promise to keep love flowing through the community.”

First-Ever Initiative: Clearing Hoarding Households to Create Safe, Cozy Living Spaces
This year marked a meaningful breakthrough: assisting elderly residents in clearing and organizing their homes.

Led by Hopewell Hotel management, including Director Mr. Jay Lee, volunteers stepped directly into the homes of elders affected by hoarding. Facing mounds of accumulated items, the team quickly coordinated to declutter and free up spacious living area. From replacing broken lightbulbs last year to physically clearing clutter today, volunteers demonstrated through action that caring means making elders' lives bright again.
